Across TCGA patient cohorts, SMS mutation is significantly associated with the RNA expression of many other genes, with 2,380 significant associations in total. UCEC shows the largest number of these associations.

The most reproducible SMS-associated genes across cancer lineages are PPIAP27, LINC01712, and RNU4-58P. Each is linked with SMS in more than 1 cancer types. Because this analysis shows association rather than direction, both SMS-to-partner and partner-to-SMS results are reported.

Each partner links to its own Q-omics profile. The box plot shows the strongest example, PPIAP27 grouped by SMS-low versus SMS-high in SKCM.
