Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, RAB38 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of RAB38’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), where RAB38 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types RAB38 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as PRAD and READ show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRP, KIRC, and THCA are the cancer types where RAB38 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
