Across TCGA patient cohorts, MIF protein abundance is significantly associated with the RNA expression of many other genes, with 9,043 significant associations in total. GBM shows the largest number of these associations.

The most reproducible MIF-associated genes across cancer lineages are CBY1, SRRD, and SLC25A1. Each is linked with MIF in more than 5 cancer types. Because this analysis shows association rather than direction, both MIF-to-partner and partner-to-MIF results are reported.
