Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, BNIP3P5 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of BNIP3P5’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where BNIP3P5 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types BNIP3P5 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUAD and LUSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LUAD, HNSC, and LUSC are the cancer types where BNIP3P5 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
