Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, APOC4-APOC2 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of APOC4-APOC2’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where APOC4-APOC2 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types APOC4-APOC2 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUAD and CHOL show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUAD, THCA, and HNSC are the cancer types where APOC4-APOC2 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
