Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ZNF98 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ZNF98’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where ZNF98 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ZNF98 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, THCA, and COAD are the cancer types where ZNF98 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
