Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, WFDC8 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of WFDC8’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where WFDC8 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types WFDC8 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, BRCA, and UCEC are the cancer types where WFDC8 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
