Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, VPS13A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of VPS13A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where VPS13A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types VPS13A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, BRCA, and LIHC are the cancer types where VPS13A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
