Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, USP7 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of USP7’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where USP7 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types USP7 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LIHC, THCA, and HNSC are the cancer types where USP7 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
