Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, UPK1B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of UPK1B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where UPK1B RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types UPK1B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, KICH, and LUSC are the cancer types where UPK1B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
