Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, TRBV5-5 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of TRBV5-5’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where TRBV5-5 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types TRBV5-5 is over-expressed in tumor.
KIRC, HNSC, and BRCA are the cancer types where TRBV5-5 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
