Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, TOMM20L RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of TOMM20L’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where TOMM20L RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types TOMM20L is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, THCA, and LIHC are the cancer types where TOMM20L tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
