Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, TMEM183A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of TMEM183A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where TMEM183A RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types TMEM183A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LIHC, THCA, and HNSC are the cancer types where TMEM183A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
