Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, TIMM23B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of TIMM23B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where TIMM23B RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types TIMM23B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, KICH, and COAD are the cancer types where TIMM23B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
