Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SPTBN5 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SPTBN5’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where SPTBN5 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SPTBN5 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

COAD, KICH, and READ are the cancer types where SPTBN5 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
