Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SPRTN RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SPRTN’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where SPRTN RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SPRTN is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, HNSC, and THCA are the cancer types where SPRTN tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
