Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SOX2 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SOX2’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD), where SOX2 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SOX2 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as STAD and PRAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
STAD, LUSC, and BRCA are the cancer types where SOX2 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
