Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SNORD116-8 RNA is linked to patient survival in 18 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated SNORD116-8 data layer compared with 1 for mutation status.

The strongest signal is observed in mesothelioma (MESO), where higher SNORD116-8 RNA is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SNORD116-8 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as SKCM and GBM show a favorable association.

MESO, ACC, and DLBC are the cancer types where SNORD116-8 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
