Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMIM26 mass-spec protein is linked to patient survival in 3 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated SMIM26 data layer compared with 20 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), where higher SMIM26 mass-spec protein is associated with better overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMIM26 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as GBM show a favorable association.
GBM, CCRCC, and LUAD are the cancer types where SMIM26 mass-spec protein most reproducibly stratifies survival.
