Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMIM12P1 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SMIM12P1’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where SMIM12P1 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SMIM12P1 is over-expressed in tumor.
LIHC, BRCA, and KIRC are the cancer types where SMIM12P1 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
