Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMIM11B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 4 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SMIM11B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in esophageal carcinoma (ESCA), where SMIM11B RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SMIM11B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as ESCA and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
ESCA, COAD, and LUAD are the cancer types where SMIM11B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
