Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMIM11A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 8 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SMIM11A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where SMIM11A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SMIM11A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUAD and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUAD, KICH, and COAD are the cancer types where SMIM11A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
