Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMG6-IT1 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SMG6-IT1’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA), where SMG6-IT1 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SMG6-IT1 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BRCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.
BRCA, STAD, and KICH are the cancer types where SMG6-IT1 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
