Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMCO2 RNA is linked to patient survival in 21 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated SMCO2 data layer compared with 2 for mutation status.
The strongest signal is observed in mesothelioma (MESO), where higher SMCO2 RNA is associated with worse overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMCO2 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as COAD and ESCA show a favorable association.
MESO, PAAD, and UVM are the cancer types where SMCO2 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
