Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMC1A Mutation is linked to patient survival in 6 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated SMC1A data layer compared with 28 for mass-spec protein and 7 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where higher SMC1A Mutation is associated with worse overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMC1A expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as UCEC show a favorable association.
HNSC, UCEC, and LIHC are the cancer types where SMC1A Mutation most reproducibly stratifies survival.
