Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SMAD9-IT1 RNA is linked to patient survival in 18 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated SMAD9-IT1 data layer.

The strongest signal is observed in brain lower grade glioma (LGG), where higher SMAD9-IT1 RNA is associated with better overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SMAD9-IT1 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as LGG and UCS show a favorable association.

LGG, UCS, and ACC are the cancer types where SMAD9-IT1 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
