Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SERF1A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 5 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SERF1A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney chromophobe (KICH), where SERF1A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SERF1A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and COAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KICH, LIHC, and LUAD are the cancer types where SERF1A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
