Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SAMD9L RNA is linked to patient survival in 26 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated SAMD9L data layer compared with 7 for mutation status and 4 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM), where higher SAMD9L RNA is associated with better overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated SAMD9L expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as SKCM and BRCA show a favorable association.
SKCM, UVM, and LGG are the cancer types where SAMD9L RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
