Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, SAMD9L RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of SAMD9L’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where SAMD9L RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types SAMD9L is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUSC and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.
HNSC, KIRC, and LUSC are the cancer types where SAMD9L tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
