Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, S100A7 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 6 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of S100A7’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), where S100A7 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types S100A7 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LUSC, BRCA, and LUAD are the cancer types where S100A7 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
