Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, S100A12 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of S100A12’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where S100A12 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types S100A12 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LIHC and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, LIHC, and LUAD are the cancer types where S100A12 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
