Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, RNU6-9 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of RNU6-9’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where RNU6-9 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types RNU6-9 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as READ show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LUAD, LIHC, and READ are the cancer types where RNU6-9 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
