Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, RNU6-181P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 8 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of RNU6-181P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where RNU6-181P RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types RNU6-181P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and COAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, CHOL, and COAD are the cancer types where RNU6-181P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
