Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, RNU5E-1 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of RNU5E-1’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where RNU5E-1 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types RNU5E-1 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

COAD, THCA, and KICH are the cancer types where RNU5E-1 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
