Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, RNU4-36P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of RNU4-36P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC), where RNU4-36P RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types RNU4-36P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as UCEC and STAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

UCEC, STAD, and LUAD are the cancer types where RNU4-36P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
