Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, RNU4-22P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of RNU4-22P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where RNU4-22P RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types RNU4-22P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, BRCA, and READ are the cancer types where RNU4-22P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
