Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, RNU2-42P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 1 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of RNU2-42P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in esophageal carcinoma (ESCA), where RNU2-42P RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types RNU2-42P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as ESCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
ESCA are the cancer types where RNU2-42P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
