Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, RNU1-22P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of RNU1-22P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), where RNU1-22P RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types RNU1-22P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUSC and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUSC, LUAD, and BRCA are the cancer types where RNU1-22P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
