Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, REG3G RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 8 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of REG3G’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), where REG3G RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types REG3G is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRP, KICH, and BRCA are the cancer types where REG3G tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
