Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PLA2G4A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of PLA2G4A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where PLA2G4A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types PLA2G4A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, KICH, and LUAD are the cancer types where PLA2G4A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
