Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, PHOX2B RNA is linked to patient survival in 22 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated PHOX2B data layer compared with 4 for mutation status and 6 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where higher PHOX2B RNA is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated PHOX2B expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as BLCA and SKCM show a favorable association.
KIRC, OV, and THYM are the cancer types where PHOX2B RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
