Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, OPN5 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of OPN5’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where OPN5 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types OPN5 is over-expressed in tumor.

THCA, KIRP, and STAD are the cancer types where OPN5 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
