Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, OLFM5P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of OLFM5P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney chromophobe (KICH), where OLFM5P RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types OLFM5P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and LUSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KICH, LUSC, and BRCA are the cancer types where OLFM5P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
