Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, NPC2 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 15 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of NPC2’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where NPC2 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types NPC2 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUSC and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, HNSC, and KIRC are the cancer types where NPC2 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
