Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, NOTCH2 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 6 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of NOTCH2’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), where NOTCH2 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types NOTCH2 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRP, KICH, and CHOL are the cancer types where NOTCH2 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
