Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, NKX2-1 RNA is linked to patient survival in 22 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated NKX2-1 data layer compared with 3 for mutation status and 1 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where higher NKX2-1 RNA is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated NKX2-1 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as LUAD and SKCM show a favorable association.
HNSC, LUSC, and KIRC are the cancer types where NKX2-1 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
