Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, NKX1-2 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 6 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of NKX1-2’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where NKX1-2 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types NKX1-2 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BRCA and KIRP show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUAD, LUSC, and UCEC are the cancer types where NKX1-2 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
