Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MYL12B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 15 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MYL12B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney chromophobe (KICH), where MYL12B RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MYL12B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KICH, BLCA, and LIHC are the cancer types where MYL12B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
