Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MUC5B mass-spec protein is linked to patient survival in 7 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated MUC5B data layer compared with 26 for mass-spec protein and 10 for mutation status.

The strongest signal is observed in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), where higher MUC5B mass-spec protein is associated with worse overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated MUC5B expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as UCEC and CCRCC show a favorable association.

PDAC, LUAD, and UCEC are the cancer types where MUC5B mass-spec protein most reproducibly stratifies survival.
