Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MTND4P21 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MTND4P21’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC), where MTND4P21 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MTND4P21 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.
UCEC, KICH, and LIHC are the cancer types where MTND4P21 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
